I was pleasantly surprised by Fancy Sushi. I looked up Sushi restaurants on Yelp and this one came up with some good reviews on Amelia Island so we decided to give it a go. They are extremely welcoming and ready to serve the moment you walk in the door. The gave my wife a complimentary drink and in the end the deep fried Oreos where a.w.e.s.o.m.e. We order multiple items off the menu and they all where very good. I ordered some spicier sushi and it had the kick I was looking for plus a little more. I have not been to many other places in the area but Fancy did a nice job and is worth a visit.

This place is great. A simple atmosphere, friendly staff and complimentary items definitely score this place a three star rating off the bat. But it was their amazing rolls that swung it into the four star range! Ordering the Kelmon roll from their specialty menu was the highlight of our meal. This place was just down right surprising!

Food and service were great. Sushi could use more meat, but the rolls were yummy otherwise. Free soup, crab roll and fried Oreo dessert were awesome as well!

Delicious! Rice is not too sticky ingredients taste fresh. Must try the shrimp tempura!

I've only come for lunch but that's because it's an incredible value! First, the service is great. We were sat immediately on a pretty busy day and some how our glass never got below half empty. We were brought complementary miso soup. AND complementary crab ragoon! Are you sold yet? The best part about lunch is you can get three types of rolls for $13. The list from which you can choose is a little limited but still good. Post feast we were offered COMPLEMENTARY FRIED OREO... ok, Fancy Sushi. You win. Definitely better than Hana :(
Went there with my bf for the first time tonight, must say Harris Teeter's sushi is much bigger and better in taste. We are travel the US and love sushi but wasn't impressed at all .

My favorite go-to sushi and Japanese restaurant in Fernandina. Their food portions are great and the value is amazing. I got a chicken hibachi with soup and salad and fried Oreo cookies for only $8! Sushi rolls are priced right, though specialty rolls are priced a bit higher. Staff is also very attentive and quick which always make my visit great.

The high expectations from all of the good reviews were met and this place did not disappoint! The lunch specials were fairly priced and we got a delicious free appetizer. The service was indeed very fast and my family left happy as can be!

It's decent. Again, another non-Japanese owned Japanese restaurant. I think that this diminishes it's authenticity. I think the owners are Vietnamese or Chinese. The waitresses are very nice and prompt. The sushi was on the smaller side, but 8 pieces per order. I got the spicy scallop roll (not on the menu), the crazy roll, and the crazy tuna roll. The tuna inside the crazy tuna roll looked dark and not very fresh. The sushi and the sushi rolls were ok. I also ordered scallop fried rice. It wad basically white rice in soy sauce with the teeniest amount of egg. 5 scallops topped the rice. The scallop to rice ratio wasn't appropriate. This place satisfies one's Asian food craving, but not spectacular in the least bit.

For what it is, Fancy Sushi honestly isn't bad. The service is competent, they give you a free appetizer and free dessert, and the ambiance is OK. I just wasn't super bowled over by their sushi. It was rather bland and flavorless. I tried the fried eel roll as well as some nigiri rolls, and none of them really did it for me. Even the fried Oreo dessert at the end was flavorless to my palate, which takes some doing. For what you pay, there's better sushi to be found in the area. I can't honestly see myself returning.

Wonderful food and lovely service. The complimentary free samples were a hit. And any restaurant that gives you a squeeze bottle of spicy mayonnaise is brilliant.

This place was fun and the food was pretty good too. We shared quite a few appetizers and then shared a couple of the rolls. My husband enjoyed the attention the waitresses gave him. He thought all the complimentary things they brought us was for him, I don't have the heart to tell him they were bringing it to the other tables too. When we return to Amelia Island we will visit Fancy Sushi again.

Fancy Sushi has recently been impressing me and I thought it was due time to write as such. I herd a rumor that the place was cited for health code violations. I don't know if there was any truth to this, but I do know that after hearing that the quality has noticeably kicked up a notch. Bravo to Susan (the master, and boss of fancy) who is always on the floor and brings all of her regulars free drinks once in a while. If you want sushi on the island and don't want to drop too much money then make sure to try Fancy. I am a very fond of their crazy tuna rolls, sushi dinner, and sashimi dinners. Three stars to FS for improving the level of economy sushi!

One of my top five favorite places to eat on the island. If your dining in you get a free holiday roll, clear soup [w/mushrooms and these crunchy things that turn into soft noodles] and for dessert fried oreos in tempura w/whipped cream and usually sprinkles and a cherry or two. I am obsessed with Fancy Sushi. I love the fried rice [they use sushi rice so it is just a step up from fried rice at a takeout place]. I LOVE putting shrimp sauce on it. The hibachi is amazing you get so much food it's unreal, lots of delicious grilled vegetables and the lo mein type noodles as well as if you order steak or chicken or both or whatever. It also comes with a salad on top of the free stuff you get when you sit down. I love the dynamite roll and highway 17 and the rock n roll. Even the white rice w shrimp sauce on it is so good. I went for my birthday once and they brought me red bean ice cream on a giant boat. It was pretty interesting, def. worth trying at least once. Miss Vivian is so sweet, I love her.

we ordered to-go after coming into town for a short stay. the person on the phone was super friendly and even made sure i knew where the restaurant was before hanging up. we ordered shrimp udon and a crunch roll. both were delicious. i did not expect to still get the soup and salad because we ordered to-go but we did and that was really cool. soup was delicious. when ordering the roll, i actually expected it to be fried. but it turned out to be covered in panko. regardless, it was delicious and ENORMOUS. the udon was great, i have never had mushrooms in it before so i picked those out and put them in my girlfriend's food. she loved it.

Recently discovered Fancy Sushi when another local Japanese restaurant was too packed. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Hibachi Chicken with Fried rice. Delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly, veggies were just right, and the fried rice was yumm-O! Also came with noodles that were tasty, a salad, and a bowl of soup. Very good amount of food for the price (I had leftovers).

Excellent sushi. Great service. They start with a complimentary app and gave my wife a special cocktail. We ordered special lobster roll and loved it. I don't understand why someone rated it three stars. It's one of the best of many we have visited. Go. Free fried Oreo cookie sounds funky, but we loved it.

Best sushi I've had in a long time! Very fresh and reasonably priced. The sashimi pieces are very thick- they don't skimp here. Very nice staff. The waitress said that she noticed "a leak" in our saki carafe and brought us more at no charge. Save room for the fried Oreos at the end of the meal-they are not to miss!

Not really as impressive as the reviews read. The sushi was okay, but not as good Ha-Na's. Perhaps if I had tried this place before Ha-Na, maybe I would have felt differently. The Hibachi chicken came with spaghetti noodles (yuck) which buried the vegetables. No amount of free food would convince me to go back.

Service is sub par and sushi is way overpriced for what you receive. Sushi tolls are small and not much fish inside. They should, at the very least, have sushi lunch specials. Also, the house soup is bland and definitely worth skipping.

Strolled into this cute little sushi establishment at noon today. Beautiful inside, but I wanted take out. After finding out their lunch specials are done in only (understandable), I ordered a variety of 10 rolls for my group. I was told 15-20 minutes! "What a reasonable amount of time!" I thought to myself. I returned after 20 minutes and awkwardly waited another 20 minutes while the hostess played with a stapler. During the time I was waiting for my sushi, people came in, sat down, ate, and had received their bills. I understand dine in customers' service being slightly more expedient, but I felt as I had been placed in the back burner for sushi that was.. A little over pricey. When I finally got my sushi, it was beautifully laid out on a to-go platter tray. Very nice presentation. Brought it home and dug in! Sushi was pretty good. I've had better and the rolls were a little small.. But they had 8 pieces which was a nice bonus. All the fish tasted a little fresh. All in all, the experience was ok. I probably wouldn't come back for take out, but I would consider dining in and maybe updating my review.. And with not even as much as a "sorry" for my double wait time, I felt like they didn't need or want my patronage. We will see.

Oh, Fancy Sushi. How much do I love you? I have been a fan of this place for years and years. They have consistently served me great, fresh, innovative rolls. Located in an inconspicuous shopping strip, the outside doesn't look like much, but trust me. Go in! The hostess' friendly face greets you as she tries to seat you as soon as you walk in. Got a larger party? No problem! Fancy Sushi is crazy accommodating! Have a seat and look over the menu. Don't forget to look at the special board for some tasty sounding rolls. Look back, and boom... theres some krab mixed with spicy mayo for you to snack on! From here the experience just gets better and better. The servers are so sweet and attentive. We never get the chance to ask for more to drink because our cups aren't empty. The sushi comes out fast and it tastes fresh! The cooked rolls are nice and crispy. The spicy rolls are perfectly spicy! I'm telling you, I can't rave about this place enough! Lastly, they bring you a fried dessert (on the house, usually)! As a "thank you for choosing us" gesture! Where else can you get that? As someone who lives in a big, mean city, I can't get enough of the kindness of the employees here. I lived in the area for many many years and now that I don't, I miss this place! I try and have dinner here at least once when I'm visiting. I don't think you can go wrong by trying Fancy Sushi. I will say that on weekends, they get busy, so come early or be prepared to wait.... personally, I think it's worth it.

We ordered sushi for takeout. We were shopping at Publix across the street and so we decided to just go in and order instead of calling. We were told 15 minutes, so we went to another store down the road and returned about 20 minutes later only to wait another 15 minutes for our sushi. We weren't offered any apologies from the cranky hostess, but it wasn't her fault that the sushi took longer to come out than she had estimated. The sushi was pretty good once we got it. I truly enjoyed my salmon and avacado roll. The rolls are a little pricey, and they don't offer a lunch special (i.e. two rolls and soup and salad for $8) unless you dine in, so we paid a little more than we wanted to for lunch time sushi. Overall the quality of the sushi was excellent. Although, we really wanted Hana Sushi across the street for more roll variety and the lunch special option whether you dine in or carry out. Hopefully we'll get to try Hana next time I'm in town!

Very happy repeat customer. My entire family likes it here. Good and consistent food and service. We favor the Crunchy roll or Sashimi. Kids love the free holiday roll appetizer. I also like the seaweed salad. Will be back soon.

For a American-style "Japanese" restaurant close to home, that serves pretty decent rolls, this is a great place to go to. If you're looking for something more authentic, you're going to have to look elsewhere. Most reviewers have been pretty spot on - lots of freebies and it seems to be the local choice for Japanese-style food. I do agree with June in that the Agedashi Tofu is missing the 'dashi' taste wise. It's still some decent fried tofu nonetheless. You definitely get what you are paying for, which isn't all that bad. Sure, they use imitation crab, but that's expensive and they wouldn't be giving that to you for free. Then again, if you want top-of-the-line-super-fresh sushi, I highly doubt you would be at Fancy Sushi now would you? Also, the whole fried Oreos make me laugh every time they offer them to us at the end of the meal.

Food is average, authenticity is below average, and price is good. Just think of this place as non-specific-Asian diner that happens to serve sushi and Japanese-ish food and you may get the picture better. I was very disappointed with one of the waitstaff's service. I was waiting to be seated, at around 5pm when it didn't look busy, and was ignored for about 5 minutes. After i got a seat, the waitstaff didn't come back to take my order for another 10 to 15 minutes. I mean, these may be minor issues, but who wants to be ignored like that? The food is not authentic at all. Just a caution to those looking for authentic Japanese dining experience: for instance, I ordered Agedashi Tofu, and what I got was diced tofu that were fried some other asian style. It came with a dipping sauce, but was very bland and tasteless. Agedashi Tofu, like implied by its name, should have 'dashi(umani stock)' infused in the tofu, but it was not even close. The sushi was OK. I had traditional Japanese sushi(tako, ika, yellowtail, cucumber roll, clam, salmon, etc) as opposed to the "non-traditional" rolls with names like "Dynamite Roll"...In most non-Japanese-owned restaurants, the rolls seems to be a better choice. price is fair. But I will not be visiting this place again.

We have found Fancy Sushi to consistently serve high quality sushi and traditional Japanese (American style) dishes. Service is always attentive and courteous. Thanks to this consistency they are often slammed in the evenings - so be aware of this if you are coming here on a Friday night. Many times we have seen a line coming out the door and into the parking lot, so we phone our order in and pick it up thirty minutes later. They are equally good for take out as dine in. If you are on a budget, try their lunch specials, you can save a good amount!

Consistently good sushi. Great place to get your sushi fix with a large menu of Americanized sushi rolls that are full of flavor. Small clean restaurant in a shopping strip type area. Waitresses are funny and friendly. Not fancy at all - very casual - and very good!

Went here on a lunch break. Seated promptly, immediate, friendly service. We were served some fried krab roll which is quite gamey, even given that it's imitation crab. The salad was just iceberg lettuce and the ginger dressing was super sugary. My sushi rolls were just okay, nothing better than grocery store sushi. They had a great lunch special price of $10 for 2 rolls, but as I said, it was nothing special.

Loved this place! Sushi is fresh and tastes amazing! They gave us free crab appetizer, miso soup and a free dessert of Oreo tempura(which our daughter loved!) we ordered Ginza (very good), dynamite roll, red snapper roll(amazing), jb smoked salmon and cheese and Alaska roll. Fried rice was blah! They should stick to Japanese food... Over all great experience.. Must try while visiting the island

fancy sushi is a wonderful restaurant. the value is amazing, and the food is excellent. food presentation is also great. the staff are attentive, prompt, and courteous. we recently had the lunch sushi special. altogether we had an appetizer sushi roll, soup, salad, a three sushi roll entree, one soda, and a free tempura Oreo dessert. total cost under $16! can't beat that deal. they always provide a free sushi appetizer, soup, and the tempura Oreo. love fancy sushi!

Oh. Em. Gee! This place was full of freebies! 1. To start you're served krab bits in what I'll call 'yum-yum' sauce (think of that creamy sauce from Kobe's or other hibachi grills) and I just wanted to tell them to keep it coming! 2. Lovely miso soup. 3. DEEP FRIED DOUBLE CHOCOLATE OREO for dessert!! I had never tried a deep fried goodie like this before, so it was quite a nice treat! Now onto the things we paid for... haha. We ordered two rolls, prepared fresh at the viewable sushi bar. The Rock and Roll with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, and rice wrapped in seaweed; and the Volcano Roll with krab delight piled high. They were both great! We also split the hibachi chicken meal... we were hungry okay? Don't judge! The veggies the chicken was served with were amazing, but the chicken itself was quite dry and the noodles weren't very impressive either. It just seemed like spaghetti noodles sautéed in soy sauce and a bit of oil. I would stick with the sushi. Nice place!
